How should I book and pay for Departure Bay–Tsawwassen?

Can I take a bicycle on Departure Bay–Tsawwassen?

Is this the regular Nanaimo–Tsawwassen ferry?

No. The frequent Nanaimo–Tsawwassen crossing uses Duke Point, about 20 minutes south of Nanaimo. This guide is for the occasional direct sailing at Departure Bay, roughly five minutes north of central Nanaimo. Check the terminal name on the booking before choosing a bus, taxi or parking lot.

Can I reach both terminals without a car?

Yes, with planning. Departure Bay lists BC Transit, coach and taxi links, while Tsawwassen connects with TransLink's 620 bus. Match the public-transport timetable to the ferry's unusual date and direction, and leave room for the walk from the bus stop to check-in.
