Questions riders ask before this trip
This long, open-water crossing links Vancouver Island with Powell River. Reservations matter, some drive-up space remains, and parking is very different at the two ends. Get those pieces right, then enjoy the ride.
How early should I arrive for Comox–Powell River?
With a booking, arrive 30 to 90 minutes before departure. Booked check-in closes at 30 minutes. Without a booking, vehicles load in arrival order and check-in closes five minutes before sailing. That five-minute cutoff doesn't save deck space, so drive-up travellers need a much bigger buffer.

This route uses one-way fares with at-terminal, prepaid and Saver choices. Prepaid and Saver fares include a booking; the at-terminal fare doesn't. Terminals accept cash, debit, major credit cards and the Experience Card, while online purchases use the listed cards.

Yes, but the two ends are different. Little River has 115 paid spaces, including paid overflow, with short- and multi-day options. Westview only lists limited paid parking outside the terminal. Read the signs at Little River and don't assume downtown Westview will have a space waiting.

Yes. Pay the passenger fare and your bicycle rides free. Arrive 30 to 60 minutes early, check in with the agent, walk through loading, and secure the bike where the crew directs. You can't charge an e-bike aboard, so start with enough battery for the onward ride.

Yes. BC Ferries keeps limited drive-up space even when the reservation allotment is sold out. Join the arrival-order queue early, watch the live deck-space estimate, and keep a later sailing possible. Sold-out reservations don't always mean the whole ferry is full.

Plan on about 90 minutes aboard. On travel day, use the live board for scheduled departures, actual arrivals and vessel tracking. Wind, loading or an operational delay can stretch the crossing, so don't pin a tight appointment to the advertised time.

Little River is about 10 minutes north of Comox by Highway 19 or 19A. Westview sits in downtown Powell River at the end of Courtenay Street, roughly 30 minutes north of Saltery Bay. Both list transit, but check the local schedule before trusting it to meet your ferry.

It counts booked customers and drive-up vehicles already processed at the booth. Cars still outside the terminal waiting to buy a ticket aren't included. Use the percentage as a snapshot, not a promise, especially when the approach road or holding lanes are filling.
