Questions riders ask before this trip
Bowen is an easy ferry day when you solve Horseshoe Bay first. There are no reservations, your fare from the mainland covers the return, and Snug Cove lands you right in the village. Parking is usually the tricky bit.
How early should I arrive for Horseshoe Bay–Bowen Island?
Horseshoe Bay closes ticket sales and check-in 10 minutes before departure. At Snug Cove, the cutoff is two minutes. Both ends load first come, first served, so show up much earlier when good weather, traffic or a holiday is filling the queue.

Pay when you leave Horseshoe Bay and the return from Snug Cove is covered. Passenger and vehicle fares are separate, while a cyclist pays only the passenger fare. Check the current guide before travel because fares and surcharges can change.

You can park at Horseshoe Bay and walk on, but spaces are limited and construction can squeeze them further. Snug Cove has no BC Ferries parking. On the island, use legal local parking or join the vehicle queue. Don't expect a terminal lot to rescue the plan.

Yes. Pay the passenger fare and your bike travels free. Check in as directed, walk it on and off, and secure it on the vehicle deck where the crew points you. E-bikes are welcome but can't be charged at the terminal or aboard, so leave with enough battery for Bowen's hills.

No. Vehicles and foot passengers load first come, first served on Horseshoe Bay–Snug Cove. Check the schedule, then arrive early enough for the queue. BC Ferries puts Bowen traffic in the unbooked line at Horseshoe Bay.

Often not. The ferry lands beside the village in Snug Cove, with Bowen Island Transit and a local taxi available. Walking on also skips the vehicle queue. Check the island bus before heading farther afield, because not every beach or trail is close to the dock.

No. Horseshoe Bay handles Bowen Island, Langdale and Departure Bay in separate destination lines. Read the overhead signs and tell the agent you're going to Snug Cove. If you join the wrong line, ask staff for directions before settling into the queue.

Check the live Snug Cove–Horseshoe Bay page, then join the correct first-come queue. The formal cutoff is only two minutes before departure, but a full sailing can leave you behind much earlier. The terminal has a shelter and bike rack, not a parking lot.
