Questions riders ask before this trip

Langdale–Keats Landing is a passenger boat, so plan it like one. Carry cash or the right prepaid ticket, check whether your return needs a pickup request, and sort out the island side before boarding. The boat ride itself is the easy, beautiful bit.

How early should I arrive for Langdale–Keats Landing?

At Langdale, ticket sales and check-in close five minutes before departure, but that is a cutoff instead of a sensible target. From Keats Landing, some sailings are on request: call or text the operator at least one hour before the scheduled time and leave the required trip details. Arrive 20 to 30 minutes early.

How do I pay for the Langdale–Keats Landing ferry?

This route charges a one-way fare. Carry cash unless you already hold the right ticket. On the vessel, only cash or prepaid tickets are accepted; cards aren't an onboard fallback. BC Ferries lists terminal card options and sells ticket books at Horseshoe Bay, the Langdale office and Passages on select ferries.

Can I park at Langdale or Keats Landing and walk on?

Yes, but the two ends are different. Langdale has paid short- and long-term parking managed independently, while Keats Landing lists 26 free off-street spaces. If your return is late or infrequent, check the parking terms and the full sailing plan before leaving the car. Neither number is a reservation.

Can I take a bicycle to Keats Landing?

BC Ferries says bicycles travel free with the passenger fare, and the current fare table lists stowage as free on this passenger route. For an unusual or heavily loaded cycle, confirm space with the operator before travel. The vessel is compact, so identify the bike when you check in and follow crew directions.

Can I bring a car from Langdale to Keats Island?

No car can go on this boat. Keats Landing is a foot-passenger dock, so leave the vehicle at Langdale and arrange the island side separately. A bike can be handy. Just check the real distance to your accommodation before you sail.

Do I need a reservation or a pickup request?

The route is non-bookable, so there is no ordinary vehicle-style reservation. Read the timetable notation and, when required, call or text at least one hour ahead with your name, phone number, travel time and pickup location. That doesn't make every stop automatic: some island departures are on request.

Will the boat wait if my Horseshoe Bay ferry is late?

Only some departures from Langdale are scheduled to wait for the Horseshoe Bay–Langdale ferry, and BC Ferries does not promise that every boat will. Match the exact departures and leave time to walk between berths. Check the return separately before committing to a same-day trip.

What should I bring for the Keats Island end?

Keats Landing lists no public transportation, accessibility options or terminal amenities, and island food choices are limited. Bring water and weather protection, and confirm how you will continue from the dock. If you plan to walk, check the actual road distance before sailing.
