This inter-island ferry saves a trip back through Chemainus, but plan the full day before you go. Service is not frequent, neither terminal lists public transit, and Thetis has no terminal parking. A bike or confirmed ride makes the trip much easier.

How early should I arrive for Thetis–Penelakut Island?

Aim to arrive 20 to 30 minutes early when you need that sailing. At Thetis, check-in closes three minutes before departure for vehicles and foot passengers. At Penelakut, it closes three minutes before departure for foot passengers and five minutes for vehicles.

Can I park at Thetis or Penelakut and walk on?

Thetis lists no terminal parking. Penelakut has 10 free spaces with a 48-hour limit. Arrange a lift or arrive on foot or by bike at Thetis. Penelakut is the only end with official parking, but its small lot can fill, so keep a drop-off plan in mind.

Can I bring a bicycle between Thetis and Penelakut?

Yes. A bicycle travels free with the passenger fare and is especially useful because neither terminal lists public transit. Charge an e-bike ashore because onboard charging is not permitted. Arrive 30 to 60 minutes early, check in, walk the bike aboard and secure it where crew direct.

Can I use this ferry for a same-day two-island trip?

Yes, when the timetable gives you a workable return. Check the outbound sailing, the return path and the last useful departure before committing to the day. This inter-island leg avoids a return through Chemainus, but it does not run like a frequent shuttle.
