Questions riders ask before this trip
Lyall Harbour–Village Bay is a useful island-to-island link, but it is not a frequent urban shuttle. Parking is tiny, cars load first-come, and island transport needs checking before you sail. Make those calls early and keep the crossing itself pleasantly unhurried.
How early should I arrive for Lyall Harbour–Village Bay?
Give the ferry more than the bare cutoff when missing it would derail your day. This inter-island service is non-bookable and vehicles load by arrival order. Lyall Harbour and Village Bay both close check-in five minutes before departure for foot passengers and vehicles.

Pay at the terminal and check the current official fare guide before budgeting. BC Ferries lists Southern Gulf Islands inter-island travel as a one-way fare, so the trip back is charged separately. Terminals accept cash, debit, major credit cards and BC Ferries Experience Cards.

Lyall Harbour lists free roadside parking rather than a large terminal lot. Village Bay has 12 free spaces outside the terminal with a 48-hour limit. Keep approaches and driveways clear at both ends, follow posted signs and do not make finding a space the only version of your plan.

Yes. Bikes travel free with the passenger fare. Bring water, lights and repair supplies because the island roads are the larger part of the ride. Arrive 30 to 60 minutes early, identify the bicycle at check-in, walk aboard as directed and secure it on the vehicle deck.

No. Vehicles board in arrival order, and a reservation held for a mainland route does not save space here. Check the latest schedule and keep a later sailing possible when a tour, pickup or accommodation check-in has a hard time.

Not always. A connection can sit inside a longer Southern Gulf Islands sequence, and you normally stay aboard through intermediate calls unless told otherwise. Read the exact departure's stops and elapsed time instead of assuming every sailing follows the same path.

Lyall Harbour lists the Saturna Lions Shuttle and Village Bay lists Mayne Island Transportation. Confirm current operating days and arrange any pickup before sailing; neither terminal page promises a city-style frequent service. A bicycle is useful when the roads and distances fit your plans.
