Questions riders ask before this trip
Harbor Bay is a tidy 25-minute weekday commute, not Alameda's catch-all ferry. That directness is why locals love it, and the weekday-only schedule is why you need to check before heading over. Park legally, board early, and enjoy the reset.
How early should I arrive for the Harbor Bay ferry?
Arrive at least five minutes early. Ten to 15 gives you time to park and walk over, which is worth having during the commuter rush. Boarding is first come, first served.

Use Clipper, the San Francisco Bay Ferry mobile option, or an eligible paper ticket. Activate a mobile ticket before boarding. Each rider needs a valid fare ready when the line starts moving.

Yes. The terminal lot has space for 250 cars and two motorcycles, but no overnight parking. Fees and enforcement can change. Read the signs each time instead of trusting an old routine.

Yes, if the onboard storage area isn't full. Bikes and scooters board first come, first served. Put yours where the crew directs, and review the current battery restrictions before bringing an e-bike.

No weekend service is published for this route. Harbor Bay runs to downtown San Francisco on weekdays. For a Saturday or Sunday trip, check the live schedule and use one of Alameda's other terminals if service is available there.
