Questions riders ask before this trip
Brooklyn Navy Yard–Roosevelt Island is a four-stop bend around the East River, not the short line the map seems to draw. Stay aboard through East 34th and Long Island City, then arrive on Roosevelt Island's quiet east shore. The useful trick is learning both landings: Market @77 at the Yard, East Main Street on the island.
How early should I arrive for Brooklyn Navy Yard–Roosevelt Island?
Arrive before the posted departure with your ticket ready. Boarding is first-come, and the public walk through the Yard can outlast your margin. Non-tenants should enter at Market @77 from Flushing Avenue; on Roosevelt Island, aim for East Main Street rather than the tram station.

No. The current NYC Ferry fare is $4.50 one way, sold in the app and at landing machines. You stay on one ferry through East 34th and Long Island City. The tram, F train and buses use the MTA fare system, so pay separately.

Neither landing is a dependable parking destination. NYC Ferry discourages driving because parking is very limited near most docks. Use the B67 or the outside Yard buses in Brooklyn; on Roosevelt Island, the RIOC bus and Q102 serve East Main Street.

Yes, if the rack still has room. NYC Ferry boats generally hold about eight to ten bikes. At the Yard, ride through Clinton Avenue or walk through Building 77 from Flushing Avenue; on board, keep the bike outside on the bow unless it folds to suitcase size.

It is a one-seat ride with East 34th Street and Long Island City in between. Regular weekday and weekend examples run roughly 27 to 31 minutes. NYC Ferry's September 28 through October 2, 2026 Sukkot timetable ran 27 to 33 minutes during that dated exception. Stay aboard at both stops.

Use 141 Flushing Avenue and walk through Market @77 at Flushing and Vanderbilt. NYC Ferry says the path from Building 77 to the dock is fully accessible and stroller-friendly. Do not follow the shoreline toward a work gate that may not admit the public.

The dock is on East Main Street on the island's east shore. The F train and tram are on the west side, so neither is a pier-side transfer. Use the RIOC bus or allow for the cross-island walk, especially with luggage or limited mobility.

NYC Ferry lists a covered waiting area, restaurants and bike racks. Its Access-A-Ride pickup and drop-off point is 860 East Road. Give that exact address when arranging an accessible connection; the broader East Main Street label can place a driver too far away.
