Questions riders ask before this trip
Brooklyn Navy Yard–Astoria is a proper river commute: Midtown, Long Island City and Roosevelt Island scroll past before the boat noses into Hallets Cove. No transfer, no tunnel, no pretending the landing is beside the subway. The delight is real; so are the walks at both ends. Plan those first and let the East River earn the rest.
How early should I arrive for Brooklyn Navy Yard–Astoria?
Be at the dock before the posted departure with your ticket ready. Boarding is first-come, and the approach can be longer than expected at either end. Non-tenants use Market @77 at the Yard; in Astoria, navigate to the Hallets Cove waterfront rather than the subway district.

The current regular fare is $4.50 one way, sold in the NYC Ferry app and at landing machines. You stay aboard through East 34th, Long Island City and Roosevelt Island. Those stops are part of one ride, not transfers; the return is a new fare.

Do not count on landing parking. NYC Ferry says spaces are very limited near most docks and discourages driving. Use the Yard buses or bicycle in Brooklyn; for Astoria, use the Q18, Q19, Q102 or Q103 and allow for the waterfront walk from inland transit.

Yes, if the rack still has space. Boats generally carry about eight to ten bikes. At the Yard, ride through Clinton Avenue or walk through Building 77 from Flushing Avenue. Keep the bicycle on the bow unless it folds to suitcase size.

It is one boat with three intermediate stops: East 34th Street, Long Island City and Roosevelt Island. Regular weekday and weekend examples run roughly 35 to 40 minutes. NYC Ferry's September 28 through October 2, 2026 Sukkot timetable ran 35 to 41 minutes during that dated exception. Stay aboard throughout.

It is on the Hallets Cove waterfront, away from the neighborhood's subway stations. NYC Ferry lists the Q18, Q19, Q102 and Q103 as local connections. Treat the ferry as a waterfront mode and include the last walk when comparing it with the N or W.

The timetable includes three landings between the Yard and Astoria, and harbor traffic or operating conditions can affect the ride. Riders notice speed changes near busy stretches. Use the schedule's arrival, not a straight-line map estimate, and leave margin for an appointment.

Use 141 Flushing Avenue and enter through Market @77 at Flushing and Vanderbilt. The path from Building 77 is accessible and stroller-friendly. The B67 enters the Yard; B48, B57, B62 and B69 stops outside still leave a final walk.
