Questions riders ask before this trip
Brooklyn Navy Yard–Long Island City links two waterfront neighborhoods by way of East 34th Street, a counterintuitive little Manhattan detour that makes perfect sense from the deck. Stay aboard, watch the skyline trade sides, and remember that neither landing is its neighborhood's subway hub. This route rewards people whose actual destination is near the river.
How early should I arrive for Brooklyn Navy Yard–Long Island City?
Arrive before departure with your ticket ready. Boarding is first-come, and both landings require honest walking time. Non-tenants enter the Yard through Market @77; in Long Island City, navigate to Center Boulevard beside Gantry Plaza, not Court Square.

The current regular fare is $4.50 one way, bought in the NYC Ferry app or at a landing machine. East 34th Street is an intermediate stop, so remain aboard and do not activate a second ticket. The ride back is a new fare.

Neither landing is built around ferry parking. NYC Ferry says parking is very limited near most docks and discourages driving. Use the Yard buses or bicycle in Brooklyn; in Long Island City, the Q102/Q103, Citi Bike and a walk from the F, 7, E or M are steadier.

Yes, while the roughly eight-to-ten-bike rack has room. At the Yard, use the Clinton Avenue bicycle entrance or walk through Building 77 from Flushing Avenue. Long Island City has landing racks and nearby Citi Bike docks if renting after the trip is easier.

It is a one-seat ride with East 34th Street in between. Regular weekday and weekend examples run roughly 21 to 24 minutes. NYC Ferry's September 28 through October 2, 2026 Sukkot timetable ran 21 to 26 minutes during that dated exception. Stay aboard in Manhattan.

It is at 46th Avenue and Center Boulevard beside Gantry Plaza, on the East River waterfront. The F at 21st Street and the 7, E and M at Court Square all require a walk. Use the landing address, not the neighborhood name, when planning your connection.

Use 141 Flushing Avenue and walk through Market @77 at Flushing and Vanderbilt. The route from Building 77 to the dock is accessible and stroller-friendly. The B67 comes inside; B48, B57, B62 and B69 stops outside add a final walk.

Sometimes, especially when both destinations are near the water, but the ferry swings through East 34th Street and runs on a timetable. Compare door-to-door arrival, including both walks and the wait. A missed sailing can erase the charm and the time advantage together.
