Questions riders ask before this trip
East 34th Street–Greenpoint can be a four-minute river hop or a slower local glide through Hunters Point South. The useful bit is not just the skyline: India Street puts you on Greenpoint's waterfront without changing trains. Check the letter on the sailing, because peak and non-winter weekend service splits into East River A and B.
How early should I arrive for East 34th Street–Greenpoint?
Reach the landing before departure with your ticket ready. Boarding is first-come, and popular commuter boats can fill. East 34th is at East 35th and FDR Drive; Greenpoint is at 10 India Street. Check that the sailing is East River B or a Local before joining the queue.

The current regular fare is $4.50 one way, bought in the NYC Ferry app or at a landing machine. Greenpoint is a stop on the same ride, not a transfer. A return trip needs another fare, and MTA buses or trains use a separate payment system.

Do not plan around ferry parking. NYC Ferry says parking is very limited near most landings and discourages driving. Use the M34 or M15 in Manhattan; Greenpoint has the B24, B32, B43 and B62 nearby, with the G train inland at Greenpoint Avenue.

Yes, while the outdoor rack has room. NYC Ferry says boats generally hold about eight to ten bicycles, and another bike may wait once capacity is reached. Both landings list bike racks and Citi Bike docks, so renting after the crossing can be the calmer commuter plan.

Yes on East River B and Local sailings. The B pattern runs straight between Greenpoint and East 34th; Local trips call at Hunters Point South. Across applicable current weekday and weekend rows, the ride runs about 4 to 16 minutes. Read the letter before boarding.

The dock is at 10 India Street on the East River. The G train is at Greenpoint Avenue and Manhattan Avenue, not at the pier. NYC Ferry lists 21 India Street for Access-A-Ride pickup and drop-off, a more useful address when arranging an accessible connection.

During weekday peaks and non-winter weekends, NYC Ferry splits the line. East River B serves Greenpoint and South Williamsburg; East River A serves Hunters Point South and North Williamsburg. Both still serve East 34th, DUMBO and Wall Street. A boat marked A is not your boat.

It can be when both ends are near the water. The ferry reaches the far east side of Midtown, while the G requires another connection for Manhattan. Count the walk to FDR Drive and the first-come queue. The boat is lovely, but it is not a shortcut to Penn Station.
