Questions riders ask before this trip

East 34th Street–DUMBO is a full East River sampler rather than a quick diagonal. A, B and Local boats all reach Old Fulton Street, but they take different Queens and Brooklyn paths. Current compatible rows span about 24 to 45 minutes, so the route letter and final waterfront walk both matter.

How early should I arrive for East 34th Street–DUMBO?

Reach the dock before departure with your ticket ready. Boarding is first-come, and weekend boats can fill. East 34th is at East 35th and FDR Drive; DUMBO is at Old Fulton and Furman. A, B and Local sailings all serve both endpoints.

How much is the ferry from East 34th Street to DUMBO?

The current regular fare is $4.50 one way, bought in the app or at a landing machine. Every intermediate call stays on the same ticket. A return trip needs another fare, and MTA buses or trains use a separate payment system.

Can I park near East 34th Street or DUMBO?

Parking is a poor plan at both waterfronts. NYC Ferry says it is very limited near most landings and discourages driving. Use the M34 or M15 in Manhattan. DUMBO has the B25, with the F, A/C and 2/3 all requiring a walk.

Can I bring a bicycle from Midtown to DUMBO?

Yes while the outdoor rack has room. NYC Ferry says vessels generally accommodate about eight to ten bicycles, and a full rack can leave another bike behind. Both landings list racks and Citi Bike docks, so renting after arrival is a useful backup.

Is East 34th Street–DUMBO direct?

It is one boat on A, B and Local sailings. A runs through Hunters Point South and North Williamsburg; B uses Greenpoint and South Williamsburg; Local serves the full sequence. Across current compatible rows, examples take about 24 to 45 minutes.

Which route letter is fastest to DUMBO?

A and B are the shorter split patterns, while Local makes every East River stop. Their exact arrivals vary, so choose the sailing that reaches DUMBO first rather than assuming one letter always wins. All three use the same endpoint landings.

How far is DUMBO ferry from the subway?

It is a waterfront walk. NYC Ferry lists the F around York and Jay, A/C around Cadman Plaza West and Middagh, and 2/3 around Clark and Henry. The B25 is closer at Old Fulton. Add the hill and cobbles with luggage.

Is this a good sightseeing ferry?

Yes. It passes Queens and Brooklyn waterfronts before arriving under the bridge skyline. It is still capacity-limited transit, not a tour boat, so keep the boarding line clear and plan the return before lingering in Brooklyn Bridge Park.
