Questions riders ask before this trip
East 34th Street–Hunters Point South is the East River A branch's small cross-river gift. A boats make the direct hop; Local boats do too, while B skips Hunters Point South. Current compatible trips span about 3 to 9 minutes, shorter than many walks to either landing.
How early should I arrive for East 34th Street–Hunters Point South?
Be at the dock before departure with your ticket ready. Boarding is first-come. East 34th is at East 35th and FDR Drive; Hunters Point South is at 54th Avenue and 2nd Street. Choose East River A or Local, not B.

The current regular fare is $4.50 one way, bought in the NYC Ferry app or at a machine. The two stops are consecutive on A and Local service, so no transfer is needed. The return and any MTA connection are separate fares.

Do not plan around ferry parking. NYC Ferry says it is very limited near most landings and discourages driving. Manhattan has the M34 and M15. Hunters Point South lists the Q103, 7 train and LIRR, each a walk from the waterfront.

Yes if the outdoor rack has space. NYC Ferry says boats generally carry about eight to ten bicycles. Both landings have racks and nearby Citi Bike docks. For a short trip, a full rack and next-boat wait can outweigh the crossing itself.

Yes on East River A and Local sailings: the landings are consecutive, with no boat change. Across current compatible weekday and weekend rows, examples run about 3 to 9 minutes. East River B does not stop at Hunters Point South.

The landing is at 54th Avenue and 2nd Street, on the Long Island City waterfront. NYC Ferry lists 5257 Center Boulevard for Access-A-Ride. It is not the Astoria route's separate Long Island City dock at 46th Avenue.

For waterfront-to-waterfront travel, often. For Grand Central, Court Square or another inland destination, the walks and waiting can reverse the answer. Compare the next actual departure and complete trip, not only the few minutes aboard.

During weekday peaks and non-winter weekends, the line splits. A serves Hunters Point South and North Williamsburg; B serves Greenpoint and South Williamsburg. Both stop at East 34th. Confirm the letter before joining the queue.
