Questions riders ask before this trip

Greenpoint–DUMBO is a proper little East River journey: Williamsburg slides past, the Manhattan Bridge arrives, and Old Fulton Street puts you under the famous stone towers. Depending on Local or B service, the current trip spans about 20 to 29 minutes. It is direct, but the final walk can matter more than the boat.

How early should I arrive for Greenpoint–DUMBO?

Arrive before departure with your ticket ready. Boarding is first-come, and fair-weather weekend boats can be busy. At Greenpoint use 10 India Street; in DUMBO use Old Fulton and Furman Streets. Both East River B and Local sailings serve the pair.

How much is Greenpoint–DUMBO by ferry?

The regular fare is currently $4.50 one way, bought in the NYC Ferry app or at a machine. Intermediate Williamsburg stops stay on the same ticket. A return trip is another fare; the 120-minute transfer benefit is for changing NYC Ferry routes, not riding back on the same one.

Can I park near Greenpoint or DUMBO ferry landings?

Parking is a poor plan at both waterfronts. NYC Ferry says it is very limited near most landings and discourages driving. Greenpoint has several buses and the G inland; DUMBO has the B25, with the F, A/C and 2/3 all requiring a walk from Old Fulton Street.

Can I bring a bike from Greenpoint to DUMBO?

Yes while the outdoor rack has space. Capacity is usually about eight to ten bicycles, and full racks can leave another bike behind. Both landings have racks and Citi Bike options. A rental at the destination avoids wagering your schedule on limited ferry space.

Is Greenpoint–DUMBO a direct ferry?

Yes. East River B and Local trips serve both stops without a boat change. The B pattern runs through South Williamsburg; Local service also includes North Williamsburg. Across applicable weekday and weekend rows, current examples take about 20 to 29 minutes.

Does the DUMBO ferry stop go under the Brooklyn Bridge?

The landing sits at Old Fulton and Furman Streets beside Brooklyn Bridge Park. Whether the boat passes beneath the bridge depends on where that sailing begins or ends, so do not buy the trip solely for one exact photo angle. The Manhattan and Brooklyn bridge views are still excellent.

How far is the DUMBO landing from the subway?

It is a waterfront walk. NYC Ferry lists the F around York and Jay, the A/C around Cadman Plaza West and Middagh, and the 2/3 around Clark and Henry. The B25 is closer at Old Fulton. Add the hill and cobbles if you have luggage or limited mobility.

Why might the app suggest a strange transfer instead?

NYC Ferry schedules change between Local and split A/B patterns, and trip planners sometimes optimize around the next actual departure rather than the simplest map line. Greenpoint and DUMBO share B service, so first check the official East River table before accepting a detour through Wall Street.
