Questions riders ask before this trip

Greenpoint–South Williamsburg stays on the East River B branch, so it survives the peak split that breaks some short neighborhood pairs. North Williamsburg joins the path only when Local service returns. Current applicable rows span about 9 to 17 minutes, a small voyage with a surprisingly important letter attached.

How early should I arrive for Greenpoint–South Williamsburg?

Arrive before departure with your ticket ready. Boarding is first-come. Greenpoint is at 10 India Street; South Williamsburg is at 440 Kent Avenue. East River B and Local trips serve both, but check the next sailing because headways matter more than this short ride.

How much is Greenpoint–South Williamsburg?

The current regular fare is $4.50 one way, bought in the app or from a landing machine. It is one ride with no ferry transfer. A return trip needs a fresh fare, and nearby buses or subways use the separate MTA fare system.

Can I park near the Greenpoint or South Williamsburg ferry?

Do not rely on it. NYC Ferry says parking is very limited near most landings and discourages driving. Greenpoint has the G and several buses inland. South Williamsburg has the B32, B62 and Q59, with the J/M/Z farther inland at Marcy Avenue.

Can I take a bike between Greenpoint and South Williamsburg?

Yes while the outdoor rack has room. NYC Ferry describes typical capacity as roughly eight to ten bicycles. Both landings list bike racks and nearby Citi Bike docks. Kent Avenue's bike network is the dependable fallback if a full rack or long headway spoils the ferry plan.

Is Greenpoint–South Williamsburg direct?

Yes on East River B and Local sailings. B runs directly between the two stops; Local inserts North Williamsburg. Across applicable current weekday and weekend rows, examples range from about 9 to 17 minutes. Check the letter and paired times for the actual sailing.

Where is the South Williamsburg ferry landing?

The dock is at 440 Kent Avenue. NYC Ferry lists the B62 near Division and Berry and the B32 or Q59 near Broadway and Kent. The J/M/Z at Marcy Avenue is inland, so include that walk rather than treating ferry and subway as one interchange.

Does East River A stop at either landing?

No. A serves Hunters Point South and North Williamsburg instead. Greenpoint and South Williamsburg are the B pair, while Local serves the full waterfront sequence. This is exactly the kind of short trip where boarding the wrong letter turns a pleasant hop into a missed stop.

Is the ferry faster than biking down Kent Avenue?

Sometimes, but only when a boat is close and has bike capacity. The crossing itself is short; waiting and walking can erase the advantage. The ferry wins for an easy, step-free waterfront ride. A bike wins for schedule control and destinations between the two piers.
