Commuter guide

Questions riders ask before this trip

Greenpoint–Wall Street is the ferry commute that makes the East River earn its keep. Depending on Local or B service, it runs through one or several Brooklyn waterfront stops before Pier 11, with current examples around 24 to 36 minutes. It is civilized transport, but fair-weather crowds and Pier 11's many queues reward an early glance at the app.

How early should I arrive for Greenpoint–Wall Street?

Be at the landing before departure with an activated ticket ready. Boarding is first-come, and commuter boats can reach capacity. Greenpoint is at 10 India Street. At Pier 11, join the East River queue rather than whichever line looks shortest; several routes share the terminal.

How much is the ferry from Greenpoint to Wall Street?

The current regular fare is $4.50 one way, bought in the app or at a machine. DUMBO and Williamsburg landings are intermediate stops, not transfers. The return is another fare. If you change to a different NYC Ferry route, the system's 120-minute transfer rules may apply.

Can I park near Greenpoint or Pier 11?

Do not build the commute around parking. NYC Ferry says it is very limited near most landings and discourages driving. Greenpoint has the G and several buses inland. Pier 11 connects to Lower Manhattan buses and several subway lines, but all require a walk from South Street.

Can I bring a bike on the Greenpoint–Wall Street ferry?

Yes if the outdoor rack has space. NYC Ferry boats generally carry about eight to ten bicycles, and a full rack can leave another bike behind. Both landings have bike racks and Citi Bike docks. During the commuter peak, arrive early or rent after landing.

Is Greenpoint–Wall Street a direct ferry?

It is one boat on East River B and Local trips. B runs through South Williamsburg and DUMBO; Local also includes North Williamsburg. Across applicable current weekday and weekend rows, examples take about 24 to 36 minutes. Stay aboard until Pier 11.

Where do I queue at Wall Street/Pier 11?

Pier 11 is at Gouverneur Lane, South Street and FDR Drive. It handles several NYC Ferry routes, so use the signed East River line and confirm the display or crew announcement. The ticket office hours listed by NYC Ferry do not turn the terminal into reserved boarding.

Does the ferry go straight from Greenpoint to Manhattan?

No. The route follows the Brooklyn shoreline before crossing to Pier 11. The exact intermediate stops depend on B versus Local service. That makes the view excellent and the timing variable. Use the current paired timetable rather than a remembered commute from another season.

Is Greenpoint ferry reliable for a morning meeting?

Treat it like capacity-limited transit, not a reserved seat. Check service alerts, arrive before departure and keep a backup through the G, 7 or L network if one missed boat would be costly. The ferry is a superb commute when it fits; the next headway is the risk to manage.
