Questions riders ask before this trip
North Williamsburg–South Williamsburg is an eight- or nine-minute neighborhood ferry only when the full East River Local is running. Peak and non-winter weekend service splits the docks onto different branches: North belongs to A, South to B. This short trip demands more timetable attention than distance suggests.
How early should I arrive for North Williamsburg–South Williamsburg?
Reach the dock before departure with your ticket ready, and confirm the timetable says East River Local. North Williamsburg is at North 6th and Kent; South Williamsburg is at 440 Kent Avenue. A and B sailings do not connect the pair on one boat.

The current regular fare is $4.50 one way, bought in the app or at a landing machine. On a Local sailing it is one ride. If split service is running, do not buy a ticket expecting an easy same-line transfer; use the street network instead.

Parking is not a dependable ferry plan. NYC Ferry says it is very limited near most landings and discourages driving. North Williamsburg has the B32, B62, Q59 and inland L; South Williamsburg has the B32, B62, Q59 and inland J/M/Z.

Yes if the ferry's roughly eight-to-ten-bike rack has space. Both docks list racks and nearby Citi Bike stations. For this short trip, Kent Avenue gives you a schedule-independent bicycle option when Local service is absent or the ferry rack is full.

Only on East River Local sailings, when the stops are consecutive and current examples run about 8 to 9 minutes. During the A/B split, North Williamsburg is on A and South Williamsburg is on B. Matching shared-stop times do not turn them into one boat.

North Williamsburg is at North 6th Street and Kent Avenue. South Williamsburg is at 440 Kent Avenue, near Division Avenue. They are separate docks along the same waterfront, and neither is directly at a subway entrance.

No useful loop does that. A skips South Williamsburg and B skips North Williamsburg. Both reach shared stops, but transferring there would turn a short neighborhood trip into a long detour. Wait for Local service or use Kent Avenue transit, walking or cycling.

North Williamsburg is nearer the L at Bedford Avenue; South Williamsburg is nearer the J/M/Z at Marcy Avenue. Neither station sits at the pier. Choose by the final destination and walking route, not simply by which landing name says Williamsburg.
