Commuter guide

Questions riders ask before this trip

North Williamsburg–Wall Street is a practical downtown commute with a postcard habit. East River A runs through DUMBO; Local service adds South Williamsburg first. Current compatible examples span about 16 to 28 minutes. The boat is simple once aboard; North 6th access and Pier 11's many queues are the bits to plan.

How early should I arrive for North Williamsburg–Wall Street?

Be at the landing before departure with an activated ticket ready. Boarding is first-come, and commuter boats can fill. Use North 6th and Kent in Brooklyn. At Pier 11, join the signed East River queue because several routes share the terminal.

How much is the North Williamsburg–Wall Street ferry?

The current regular fare is $4.50 one way, bought in the app or at a machine. DUMBO and any Local intermediate stop remain part of one ride. The return needs another fare; a change to a different NYC Ferry route can qualify for the 120-minute transfer window.

Can I park near North Williamsburg or Pier 11?

Do not make parking the commute plan. NYC Ferry says it is very limited near most landings and discourages driving. North Williamsburg has buses and the inland L. Pier 11 is reached by Lower Manhattan subway, bus, bicycle or walking, with a final stretch to South Street.

Can I bring a bike from North Williamsburg to Wall Street?

Yes while the outdoor rack has space. NYC Ferry says boats generally carry about eight to ten bicycles, and a full rack can leave another bike behind. Both terminals list racks and Citi Bike. During the commute peak, arrive early or rent after landing.

Is North Williamsburg–Wall Street direct?

It is one boat on East River A and Local sailings. A runs through DUMBO; Local also calls at South Williamsburg. Across compatible current weekday and weekend rows, examples take about 16 to 28 minutes. East River B skips North Williamsburg.

Where do I queue at Wall Street/Pier 11?

Pier 11 is at Gouverneur Lane, South Street and FDR Drive. It serves several NYC Ferry lines, so follow East River signs and confirm North Williamsburg is listed. A nearby boat can belong to another route and skip your stop entirely.

Is the ferry faster than the subway downtown?

It can be for waterfront destinations, especially when a boat is close. The L plus a Manhattan connection may win for inland offices or after a missed sailing. Compare door-to-door arrival, including the walk to North 6th and from South Street.

Is this a good sightseeing ride?

Yes. The route gives Williamsburg, Manhattan and Brooklyn bridge views for a regular transit fare. It is still a commuter boat with first-come capacity, so keep the boarding line clear, choose either deck respectfully and know the return schedule before wandering downtown.
