Questions riders ask before this trip

Hunters Point South–South Williamsburg is a Local-only trip between opposite sides of the East River split. Regular full-Local trips take about 24 to 25 minutes. The dated September 28 through October 2, 2026 Sukkot timetable ran A and B separately all day, so there was no direct boat.

How early should I arrive for Hunters Point South–South Williamsburg?

Be at the dock before departure with your ticket ready, and confirm the sailing says East River Local. Hunters Point South is at 54th Avenue and 2nd Street; South Williamsburg is at 440 Kent Avenue. A and B sailings separate the two stops.

How do I pay for this Local-only trip?

The current regular fare is $4.50 one way, bought in the app or at a landing machine. A Local sailing is one ride. If split service is running, do not activate a ticket expecting an easy same-line transfer; compare land transit instead.

Can I park at Hunters Point South or South Williamsburg?

Parking is not a dependable plan. NYC Ferry says it is very limited near most landings and discourages driving. Hunters Point South lists the Q103, 7 and LIRR inland. South Williamsburg lists the B32, B62, Q59 and inland J/M/Z.

Can I bring a bike between Queens and South Williamsburg?

Yes if the roughly eight-to-ten-bike rack has room. Both docks list racks and Citi Bike stations. Because this pair only has direct Local service, a bicycle can also provide a more predictable land alternative when the line is split.

Is Hunters Point South–South Williamsburg direct?

Only on East River Local trips. Regular full-Local rows take about 24 to 25 minutes. NYC Ferry's September 28 through October 2, 2026 Sukkot schedule ran A and B as separate routes all day, so this cross-branch pair had no direct boat during that dated exception.

Can I transfer between A and B to make the trip?

The branches share East 34th Street, DUMBO and Wall Street, but detouring through one would turn this neighborhood trip into a long transfer. Wait for Local service or use subway, bus, bicycle or a car service rather than engineering a ferry loop.

Which Long Island City dock should I use?

Hunters Point South at 54th Avenue and 2nd Street. Do not choose the Astoria route's Long Island City landing at 46th Avenue. They are separate docks with different lines and departure boards.

Is the ferry useful for Marcy Avenue?

South Williamsburg is the closer endpoint, but the J/M/Z station is still inland from 440 Kent Avenue. Count that walk. The trip works best when both origins and destinations are near the waterfront rather than the subway corridors.
