Questions riders ask before this trip

Soundview–East 90th is a clean nineteen-minute Bronx-to-Manhattan link on the dated holiday table, with no stop in between. It trades subway convenience for river air: Soundview leans on the Bx27 and Bx39, while East 90th still needs a bus or walk west. Get the land side right and the boat is the easy middle.

How early should I arrive for the Soundview–East 90th ferry?

Arrive before the posted departure with your ticket ready and confirm the boat says Rockaway–Soundview. Boarding is first-come, and missing this line can mean a meaningful wait. At East 90th, do not join an Astoria queue just because the destination board also shows downtown stops.

What does the Soundview–East 90th ferry cost?

The regular fare is currently $4.50 one way, bought in the NYC Ferry app or at a landing machine. The ride is one boat, so no transfer is needed. A return ride is a new fare, not a free round trip.

Can I park at Soundview or East 90th Street?

Do not count on an NYC Ferry lot at either end. The operator says parking is very limited near most landings and discourages driving. Soundview is better approached by the Bx27 or Bx39; East 90th is better by bus, bicycle, or a planned drop-off.

Can I bring a bike from Soundview to East 90th?

Yes, if the vessel rack still has room. NYC Ferry typically accommodates about eight to ten bicycles and can stop boarding bikes when full. Keep the bike outdoors on the bow unless it folds to suitcase size.

Is Soundview–East 90th direct?

Yes. They are consecutive stops on Rockaway–Soundview, with no intermediate landing and no boat change. The opposite-direction boat goes first to Ferry Point Park, so check the direction before boarding at Soundview.

How long is the ferry from Soundview to East 90th?

NYC Ferry's September 28 through October 2, 2026 Sukkot timetable scheduled 19 minutes in both directions. That was a dated holiday table, not a permanent promise, so pair the departure and arrival for your travel date.

Can I transfer to the Astoria ferry at East 90th?

Yes when the timetables line up, but it is a real transfer, not a shared through boat. NYC Ferry transfers are free within 120 minutes of starting a one-way trip. Check both route names and leave margin; seeing the other vessel does not mean it will wait.

Which buses reach the Soundview landing?

NYC Ferry lists the Bx27 at the ferry landing and the Bx39 at Cornell Avenue and Soundview Avenue. Access-A-Ride uses 9 Soundview Avenue. At East 90th, plan the final walk or bus connection west rather than expecting a subway at the pier.
