Questions riders ask before this trip

Soundview–Stuyvesant Cove is the useful east-side diagonal that the subway map does not offer. The boat calls at East 90th and East 34th, then reaches the quiet Kips Bay dock in 40 to 46 minutes on the dated holiday table. The waterfront views are easy; the last blocks to Avenue C need their own plan.

How early should I arrive for the Soundview–Stuyvesant Cove ferry?

Arrive before the posted departure with your ticket activated and confirm Rockaway–Soundview on the board. Boarding is first-come. Stuyvesant Cove is a small landing on a long route, so missing the boat can cost far more time than the gangway takes.

What does Soundview–Stuyvesant Cove cost?

The regular NYC Ferry fare is currently $4.50 one way, bought in the app or at a landing machine. You stay on one boat. A return trip needs another fare; the 120-minute transfer rule does not turn a round trip into one ticket.

Can I park at Soundview or Stuyvesant Cove?

Do not count on an NYC Ferry lot at either dock. NYC Ferry says parking is very limited near most landings. Soundview is better by the Bx27 or Bx39; Stuyvesant Cove is better by bus, bike, or walking along the East River greenway.

Can I bring a bicycle to Stuyvesant Cove?

Yes, if the vessel rack has room. NYC Ferry generally carries about eight to ten bikes and can stop bike boarding when full. Stuyvesant Cove sits beside the East River greenway, which makes this one of the more useful ferry-and-bike combinations.

Is Soundview–Stuyvesant Cove a one-seat ride?

Yes. Stay aboard through East 90th Street and East 34th Street; Stuyvesant Cove is next. No transfer is needed. In the reverse direction, those two Manhattan stops sit between Stuyvesant Cove and Soundview in the opposite order.

How long is the ferry from Soundview to Stuyvesant Cove?

NYC Ferry's September 28 through October 2, 2026 Sukkot table scheduled 40 to 46 minutes across the two directions. That was a dated holiday pattern, so check the live paired arrival rather than treating the range as permanent.

How do I get inland from Stuyvesant Cove?

The dock is at the East River end of East 20th Street. It is good for the greenway and nearby Kips Bay or Stuyvesant Town, but it is not at a subway station. Plan the walk or local bus connection before the ferry arrives.

Why take this instead of changing to the subway?

Take it when your destination is near the east-side waterfront or when a calm one-seat ride matters more than raw frequency. The ferry avoids an inland transfer but leaves you farther east. Compare the live arrival with your full walk or bus time, not just the time aboard.
