Commuter guide

Questions riders ask before this trip

Soundview–Ferry Point Park is the Bronx's shortest ferry hop and an oddly useful one: three minutes one way, eight the other on the dated holiday table. The real planning happens on land. Soundview meets local buses at Clason Point; Ferry Point has free parking but a long park approach, with a limited weekday shuttle doing the legwork at commute times.

How early should I arrive for the Soundview–Ferry Point Park ferry?

Be at the landing before the posted departure with your ticket ready. Boarding is first-come, and this short hop is only useful if you catch the right Rockaway–Soundview boat. At Ferry Point, add time for the park path or shuttle before you start counting ferry minutes.

How much is the ferry between Soundview and Ferry Point Park?

The regular NYC Ferry fare is currently $4.50 one way. Buy in the app or at a landing machine. A ride back needs another fare; round trips do not qualify for the free-transfer rule.

Which Bronx landing is better for parking?

Ferry Point Park is the clear choice: NYC Ferry lists free parking there. Soundview has no operator lot, so do not build a trip around finding curb space near Clason Point. The Ferry Point lot is not beside the gangway, so leave time for the path or weekday shuttle.

Can I take a bicycle between the Bronx ferry landings?

Yes, while rack space lasts. NYC Ferry boats generally carry about eight to ten bicycles, and crew may stop accepting bikes when the rack is full. Both landings list bike racks, but the park approach at Ferry Point is part of the trip.

Is Soundview–Ferry Point Park nonstop?

Yes. The two Bronx landings are consecutive on Rockaway–Soundview, so there is no intermediate stop or transfer. Read the destination board: Ferry Point is the northern end of the line, while the other direction continues through Manhattan toward Rockaway.

How long is the ferry from Soundview to Ferry Point Park?

NYC Ferry's September 28 through October 2, 2026 Sukkot timetable scheduled the hop at 3 minutes toward Ferry Point and 8 minutes toward Soundview. That was a dated holiday pattern, so use the live paired arrival for another date.

How does the Ferry Point Park shuttle work?

NYC Ferry says the free shuttle runs on weekdays from 5:00 to 10:00 a.m. and again from 3:00 p.m. through the final ferry, leaving about 10 minutes before departures. It is first-come, does not run midday or on weekends, and is not something to meet at the last second.

What transit serves Soundview?

NYC Ferry lists the Bx27 at the landing and the Bx39 at Cornell Avenue and Soundview Avenue. Access-A-Ride pickup and drop-off is at 9 Soundview Avenue. Ferry Point is more car-and-shuttle oriented, so choose your end before assuming the two Bronx docks work alike.
