Questions riders ask before this trip

East 90th–Stuyvesant Cove is a Manhattan waterfront trip that behaves more like a neighborhood ferry than a sightseeing loop. East 34th is the only stop in between, with a dated holiday range of 21 to 27 minutes. Both docks sit east of the subway grid, so the useful comparison is ferry plus walking time versus the bus all the way.

How early should I arrive for the East 90th–Stuyvesant Cove ferry?

Reach the dock before the posted departure with your ticket ready and confirm Rockaway–Soundview on the board. East 90th also serves Astoria boats, so the route name matters. Boarding is first-come, and missing this sailing can erase the time saved on the water.

How much is the ferry from East 90th to Stuyvesant Cove?

The regular NYC Ferry fare is currently $4.50 one way. Buy in the app or at a landing machine. This is one boat, so no transfer is needed; a ride back is another fare because round trips do not qualify as free transfers.

Can I park near East 90th Street or Stuyvesant Cove?

Do not plan around parking at either dock. NYC Ferry says parking is very limited near most landings and discourages driving. East 90th works better with the M31 or M86-SBS; Stuyvesant Cove works better with the M9, M23-SBS, bicycle or a waterfront walk.

The landing is at East 90th Street and FDR Drive. NYC Ferry lists the M31 and M86-SBS near East 88th Street, while the Q train is at East 86th and Second Avenue. That inland leg is real, so include it when comparing the ferry with a bus-only trip.
