Questions riders ask before this trip
East 90th–Sunset Park is a one-seat Upper East Side-to-Brooklyn Army Terminal ride with three Manhattan calls before the harbor turn. The dated holiday table ran 56 to 59 minutes. It earns its keep when Pier 4 is the destination: the N/R still require a waterfront walk, while the ferry lands inside the terminal campus.
How early should I arrive for the East 90th–Sunset Park ferry?
Be at East 90th before the listed departure with your ticket ready and confirm Rockaway–Soundview. Boarding is first-come. This is a long one-seat segment, so check that the stop list includes Sunset Park/BAT rather than assuming every East 90th boat reaches Brooklyn Army Terminal.

The regular fare is currently $4.50 one way, bought in the NYC Ferry app or at a landing machine. You remain on the same boat through Manhattan. The trip back needs another fare; it is not a free round trip.

Sunset Park/BAT is the practical car end. NYC Ferry lists free public parking on Pier 4, though special events can limit it. East 90th has no operator lot and parking is very limited, so use the M31, M86-SBS, bicycle or a drop-off there.

Yes, if rack space remains. NYC Ferry vessels generally take about eight to ten bicycles and may stop bike boarding when full. Both ends list bike racks and Citi Bike options, but a long weekend beach-bound sailing can attract more bikes than the rack holds.

Toward Brooklyn, the boat calls at East 34th Street, Stuyvesant Cove and Wall Street/Pier 11 before Sunset Park/BAT. Stay aboard at each stop; no transfer is needed. The Wall Street dwell has separate arrival and departure times, so it is longer than a simple touch-and-go.

NYC Ferry's September 28 through October 2, 2026 Sukkot timetable scheduled 56 to 59 minutes. The range comes from both directions and includes the Pier 11 stop. It was a dated holiday pattern, so check the current paired arrival.

NYC Ferry describes the N/R at 59th Street as a short walk: go east along 58th Street from the waterfront. The B11 stops at 58th and First Avenue, and the B37 at 58th and Third. It is not a same-platform transfer, so budget the walk.

Many full Rockaway–Soundview trips continue from Sunset Park to Rockaway, but later partial runs can end before the whole line is served. Get off at BAT when that is your destination, and read the live stop list if you are considering staying aboard for the beach.
