Questions riders ask before this trip
East 90th–East 34th is the simple Manhattan leg of Rockaway–Soundview: consecutive stops, no transfer, and 12 to 18 minutes on the dated holiday table. The catch is access. Both landings hug FDR Drive, so this is excellent waterfront-to-waterfront travel and less magical when both ends require long inland walks.
How early should I arrive for the East 90th–East 34th ferry?
Be at the dock before departure with your ticket ready and verify Rockaway–Soundview on the sign. Both landings serve more than one route. Boarding is first-come, so do not assume another boat with the same Manhattan destination follows immediately.

The regular fare is currently $4.50 one way, bought in the app or at a landing machine. No transfer is needed. A trip back costs another fare; the free-transfer window does not cover round trips.

Do not build the trip around parking. NYC Ferry says parking is very limited near most docks and discourages driving. East 90th is better by the M31 or M86-SBS; East 34th is better by the M34, M15, bicycle or drop-off.

Yes, if the vessel rack still has space. NYC Ferry generally carries about eight to ten bicycles and may stop accepting them when full. Both landings have bike racks and nearby Citi Bike stations along the east-side greenway.

Yes. They are consecutive Rockaway–Soundview stops in both directions, so there is no intermediate landing and no transfer. Astoria also links the two docks, but its stop pattern differs; board the departure with the best live arrival.

NYC Ferry's September 28 through October 2, 2026 Sukkot table ranged from 12 to 18 minutes across both directions. That was a dated holiday schedule, so check the live paired arrival for the boat you plan to catch.

Choose by the next useful arrival, not habit. Rockaway–Soundview and Astoria can both serve East 90th and East 34th, but their through destinations and queues differ. Confirm the route name if you intend to stay aboard beyond either Manhattan stop.

East 90th is at East 90th Street and FDR Drive. East 34th is actually at East 35th Street and FDR Drive. Neither is at a subway entrance, so include the M31/M86-SBS or M34/M15 connection and the final waterfront walk.
