Questions riders ask before this trip

Ferry Point Park–Rockaway is Rockaway–Soundview end to end: a one-seat run with six intermediate landings and 122 to 127 minutes on the dated holiday table. It is a remarkable waterfront traverse, but the limited shuttles at both ends and sparse return options make it an excursion to plan, not a connection to improvise.

How early should I arrive for Ferry Point Park–Rockaway?

Be at the landing before departure with your ticket ready and confirm the full Rockaway–Soundview run. Boarding is first-come. Check the last return first, then leave generous margin for the limited shuttle or park approach at Ferry Point.

What does Ferry Point Park–Rockaway cost?

The regular NYC Ferry fare is currently $4.50 one way, bought in the app or at a landing machine. All six intermediate landings are part of one ride. A trip back needs another fare because round trips do not qualify for free transfers.

Can I park at Ferry Point Park or Rockaway?

NYC Ferry lists free parking inside Ferry Point Park near its landing. At Rockaway, do not assume a dedicated ferry space; the operator's general guidance says parking is limited near most landings. Beach-season restrictions can also change the picture.

Can I bring a bicycle between Ferry Point Park and Rockaway?

Yes, while rack space lasts. NYC Ferry vessels generally carry about eight to ten bicycles and may stop accepting them when full. For an end-to-end trip this long, a full rack can seriously change the day, so keep a backup plan.

What stops are between Ferry Point Park and Rockaway?

The one-seat run calls at Soundview, East 90th Street, East 34th Street, Stuyvesant Cove, Wall Street/Pier 11 and Sunset Park/BAT. Stay aboard at all six; Pier 11's dwell is part of the trip, not a transfer.

How long is the ferry from Ferry Point Park to Rockaway?

NYC Ferry's September 28 through October 2, 2026 Sukkot timetable ranged from 122 to 127 minutes across every compatible row. That was a dated holiday pattern, so use the live paired arrival and last return for another date.

Do both ends have ferry shuttles?

NYC Ferry lists a limited weekday Ferry Point shuttle to the 6 train and a separate limited-capacity Rockaway shuttle serving local stops. Their hours and patterns differ. Check both current maps rather than assuming either waits for every ferry.

Is this practical as a round trip in one day?

It can be, but start with the return timetable. The sailing alone can exceed two hours each way, boarding is first-come and the endpoint shuttles are limited. Build the day around confirmed boats, not around an open-ended beach or park visit.
