Questions riders ask before this trip

Atlantic Avenue–Sunset Park/BAT is a tidy Brooklyn waterfront link through Red Hook. The dated holiday table took 25 to 26 minutes on full extension trips. Pier 6 favors walkers and cyclists; Pier 4 brings free parking and direct access to Brooklyn Army Terminal, making the two ends useful in very different ways.

How early should I arrive for Atlantic Avenue–Sunset Park?

Arrive before departure with your ticket ready and confirm the South Brooklyn stop list reaches Sunset Park/BAT. Boarding is first-come, and some morning or seasonal patterns end before BAT. At Pier 6, include the park walk in your arrival time.

What does Atlantic Avenue–Sunset Park cost?

The regular NYC Ferry fare is currently $4.50 one way. Buy in the app or at a landing machine. Red Hook is an intermediate call on the same boat. A return trip needs another fare because round trips are not free transfers.

Which end is better for parking?

Sunset Park/BAT is the practical car end. NYC Ferry lists free public parking on Pier 4, though special events may restrict it. Pier 6 has no operator lot, so arrive there by transit, bicycle, walking or drop-off if possible.

Can I bring a bicycle from Pier 6 to Brooklyn Army Terminal?

Yes, if rack space remains. NYC Ferry vessels generally take about eight to ten bicycles and may stop accepting them when full. Both landings have bike racks and nearby waterfront cycling routes.

What stops are between Atlantic Avenue and Sunset Park?

On full South Brooklyn extension trips, Red Hook/Atlantic Basin is between Pier 6 and Sunset Park/BAT. Stay aboard there. Some morning patterns may use Governors Island instead of continuing south, so verify BAT appears in the live stop list.

How long is the ferry from Pier 6 to Sunset Park?

NYC Ferry's September 28 through October 2, 2026 Sukkot timetable ranged from 25 to 26 minutes on every row that served both endpoints. That was a dated holiday extension, so check the current stop pattern and paired arrival.

How do I reach the subway from Brooklyn Army Terminal?

NYC Ferry describes the N/R at 59th Street as a short walk east along 58th Street from the waterfront. The B11 stops at 58th and First Avenue, and the B37 at 58th and Third. It is not a same-platform connection.

Which Brooklyn Bridge Park pier is Atlantic Avenue?

Pier 6, near the park's southern end. It is not DUMBO/Fulton Ferry, which is a separate landing farther north. Search for Atlantic Avenue or Pier 6 and leave time to walk through the park to the gangway.
