Questions riders ask before this trip
Sunset Park/BAT–Red Hook is a simple consecutive-stop ride along Brooklyn's working waterfront. The dated holiday table took 16 to 17 minutes. It is often more pleasant than stitching together buses, but the timetable matters because BAT belongs to the southern extension rather than every South Brooklyn sailing.
How early should I arrive for Sunset Park/BAT–Red Hook?
Reach the landing before departure with your ticket ready and confirm that the live South Brooklyn trip serves BAT. Boarding is first-come. At Red Hook, allow for the walk into Atlantic Basin; at BAT, allow for the walk across the terminal campus to Pier 4.

The regular NYC Ferry fare is currently $4.50 one way, bought in the app or at a landing machine. The landings are consecutive and require no transfer. A ride back is another fare because round trips are not free transfers.

BAT is the clear choice. NYC Ferry lists free public parking on Pier 4, though special events can restrict it. Red Hook has no dependable operator lot, and street conditions can change with cruise activity and waterfront events.

Yes, subject to the boat's roughly eight-to-ten-bike capacity. A full rack can mean waiting for another sailing. Both ends suit waterfront cycling, and a bike can be more useful than the bus connection once ashore.

Yes. Red Hook/Atlantic Basin and Sunset Park/BAT are consecutive on trips using the southern extension. Check that BAT appears in the live stop list, but there is no intermediate call when the pairing is offered.

NYC Ferry's September 28 through October 2, 2026 Sukkot timetable ranged from 16 to 17 minutes across every row serving both endpoints. That was a dated holiday extension, so use the live paired arrival for another date.

NYC Ferry places the dock at Atlantic Basin and lists the B61 along Van Brunt Street, plus Citi Bike docks nearby. The F/G at Smith–Ninth Streets are well inland, so a bus, bike or purposeful walk is more realistic than treating the ferry as a subway interchange.

NYC Ferry lists 140 58th Street for Sunset Park/BAT and 176 Pioneer Street for Red Hook. Use those exact pickup points rather than the broad terminal or basin names, and arrive early enough to ask the crew for boarding assistance.
