Questions riders ask before this trip
East 34th–Bay Ridge is the full South Brooklyn run from Midtown to the southern Brooklyn waterfront. The dated holiday table scheduled 61 minutes in either direction, with five intermediate landings. It is scenic and genuinely one-seat, but check the exact extension and last return before choosing it over a quicker inland trip.
How early should I arrive for East 34th–Bay Ridge?
Reach the landing before departure with your ticket ready and confirm that the South Brooklyn trip continues to Bay Ridge. Boarding is first-come, and not every pattern serves the southern extension. At East 34th, use the route label because several NYC Ferry services share the terminal.

The regular NYC Ferry fare is currently $4.50 one way, bought in the app or at a landing machine. All five intermediate calls are on the same boat. A return trip needs another fare because round trips do not qualify for free transfers.

Do not plan around ferry parking at either end. NYC Ferry says space is very limited near most landings and discourages driving. Use the M34, M15, bicycle or drop-off at East 34th; use the B9, B64, bicycle or the inland walk from the R train at Bay Ridge.

Yes, while rack space lasts. NYC Ferry boats generally hold about eight to ten bicycles and may stop accepting them when full. A bike is useful at both waterfront landings, but a full rack can mean waiting for another long extension trip.

NYC Ferry's September 28 through October 2, 2026 Sukkot timetable scheduled 61 minutes in both directions on every row serving both endpoints. That was a dated holiday extension, so use the live paired arrival for another date.

It is not at the station. NYC Ferry places the dock at American Veterans Memorial Pier and lists the R at Bay Ridge Avenue and Fourth Avenue. The B9 and B64 stop nearer Shore Road, so count the walk or bus connection.

The dock is at East 35th Street and FDR Drive, not beside Penn Station or a subway entrance. NYC Ferry lists the M34 at the terminal, the M15 on First Avenue and the 4/6 near East 33rd and Park Avenue.
