Questions riders ask before this trip

Bay Ridge–Red Hook is a one-seat Brooklyn waterfront link with Sunset Park/BAT in the middle. The dated holiday table ran 22 to 26 minutes. It avoids a fussy land connection, but the southern extension is schedule-dependent and neither endpoint behaves like a subway interchange.

How early should I arrive for Bay Ridge–Red Hook?

Be at the landing before departure with your ticket ready and confirm that the South Brooklyn trip reaches Bay Ridge. Boarding is first-come, and shorter patterns can finish before the southern extension. Include the waterfront walk at either end.

What does Bay Ridge–Red Hook cost?

The regular NYC Ferry fare is currently $4.50 one way, bought in the app or at a landing machine. Sunset Park/BAT is an intermediate call on the same boat. A trip back needs another fare because round trips are not free transfers.

Can I park at Bay Ridge or Red Hook?

Do not assume either landing has a ferry lot. NYC Ferry says parking is very limited near most docks and discourages driving. Bay Ridge works better by the B9, B64, bike or walking; Red Hook street conditions can change with cruise ships and waterfront events.

Can I bring a bicycle between Bay Ridge and Red Hook?

Yes, while rack space remains. NYC Ferry vessels generally hold about eight to ten bicycles and may stop accepting them when full. Both ends connect naturally to waterfront riding, but the rack is not guaranteed.

Is Bay Ridge–Red Hook nonstop?

No, but it is one boat. South Brooklyn calls at Sunset Park/BAT between the two landings. Stay aboard there and confirm the live trip serves the complete southern extension before boarding.

How long is the ferry from Bay Ridge to Red Hook?

NYC Ferry's September 28 through October 2, 2026 Sukkot timetable ranged from 22 to 26 minutes across every row serving both endpoints. That was a dated holiday extension, so use the current paired arrival for another date.

How do I reach Red Hook from the landing?

NYC Ferry places the dock at Atlantic Basin and lists the B61 along Van Brunt Street, plus Citi Bike docks nearby. The F/G at Smith–Ninth Streets are well inland, so a bus, bike or purposeful walk is more realistic than treating the ferry as a subway interchange.

How do I reach the Bay Ridge pier?

The landing is at American Veterans Memorial Pier. NYC Ferry lists the B9 and B64 near Shore Road and the R train inland at Bay Ridge Avenue and Fourth Avenue. Allow for the final walk rather than timing the trip from the station platform.
