Questions riders ask before this trip
Atlantic Avenue–Midtown West is the long-form version of a ferry ride: Bay Ridge, St. George and Battery Park City all come before Pier 79. Current trips span about 62 to 65 minutes. It is a handsome one-seat harbor tour when both waterfront endpoints suit you, but Pier 79's access deserves its own plan.
How early should I arrive for Atlantic Avenue–Midtown West?
Be on the pier before departure with your ticket ready. Boarding is first-come. Atlantic Avenue is Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 6; Midtown West is Pier 79 on 12th Avenue. Check the St. George route and direction before joining the queue.

The current regular fare is $4.50 one way, bought in the NYC Ferry app or at a machine. All three intermediate calls remain one ride. A return needs another ferry fare, and connecting buses or subways use separate MTA payment.

Parking is not the dependable plan at either landing. NYC Ferry says it is very limited near most docks. Use Brooklyn buses or inland trains for Pier 6; at Midtown West, plan around the M42, M12, the 7 train walk or the free Pier 79 shuttle.

Yes if the onboard rack has room. NYC Ferry says boats generally hold about eight to ten bicycles. Pier 6 has bike racks and Citi Bike; Midtown West lists Citi Bike docks around West 40th, West 41st and Hudson Boulevard.

It is one boat on the regular through pattern, with Bay Ridge, St. George and Battery Park City in between, and takes about 62 to 65 minutes. In NYC Ferry's September 28 through October 2, 2026 Sukkot PDF, the one continuous six-stop table toward Midtown kept the full ride on one boat and scheduled 62 minutes from Atlantic Avenue. The Wall Street-bound side printed separate blocks, so it did not promise the reverse one-seat trip during that dated exception.

Not especially. The landing is on 12th Avenue. NYC Ferry lists the 7 train at 11th Avenue and Hudson Boulevard East, plus the M42 and M12. Include the far-west walk or shuttle rather than reading Midtown West as a subway-platform location.

Yes. NYC Ferry says Pier 79 shuttle buses run about every 10 minutes at peak times and about every 20 minutes off-peak and on weekends. Check the current shuttle map and leave connection slack; it is not timed to every ferry arrival.

It covers a broad harbor arc and several distinct waterfronts, but it remains public transit with first-come boarding. Pick a sailing whose full 62-to-65-minute ride fits your day, bring weather layers and avoid blocking commuter queues for a photo.
