Questions riders ask before this trip

Battery Park City–Wall Street looks like a downtown shortcut on a map, but this ferry takes the grand tour through St. George, Bay Ridge and Atlantic Avenue. Current trips run about 53 to 57 minutes. Ride it for a one-seat harbor loop; use land transit when downtown speed is the goal.

How early should I arrive for Battery Park City–Wall Street?

Reach the landing before departure with your ticket ready. Boarding is first-come. Battery Park City is at Vesey Street; Wall Street uses Pier 11 at Gouverneur Lane. Check the St. George route because the endpoints host several ferry services.

How much is the ferry between the two downtown landings?

The current regular NYC Ferry fare is $4.50 one way. Buy in the app or at a landing machine. St. George, Bay Ridge and Atlantic Avenue remain part of one ride. A return needs another fare.

Can I park at Battery Park City or Pier 11?

Do not plan around ferry parking at either downtown landing. NYC Ferry says parking is very limited near most docks. Both endpoints have multiple subway, bus, walking and bicycle approaches; choose by the side of Lower Manhattan you actually need.

Can I bring a bicycle between Vesey Street and Pier 11?

Yes if the onboard rack has room. NYC Ferry vessels generally accommodate about eight to ten bicycles. Both downtown areas list Citi Bike docks, which may be a faster fallback for this geographically short but operationally long ferry route.

Is Battery Park City–Wall Street direct?

It is one boat on the regular through pattern, though not a short one: about 53 to 57 minutes via St. George, Bay Ridge and Atlantic Avenue. In NYC Ferry's September 28 through October 2, 2026 Sukkot PDF, the one continuous six-stop table toward Midtown kept Wall Street through to Battery Park City on one boat, taking 57 minutes. The Wall Street-bound side printed separate blocks, so it did not promise the reverse one-seat trip during that dated exception.

Why does the ferry take nearly an hour?

The St. George line circles through Staten Island and Brooklyn rather than tracing the Manhattan shoreline. That stop order creates a useful one-seat network link, not a downtown shuttle. Compare the published arrival with walking, cycling or subway options.

Are Battery Park City and Pier 11 the same terminal?

No. Battery Park City is on the Hudson side at Vesey Street. Pier 11 is on the East River at Gouverneur Lane and South Street. Mixing them up can put you on the wrong coast of Lower Manhattan.

Can I transfer at Pier 11?

Yes when the onward departure fits NYC Ferry's 120-minute transfer window. Check the route and queue before you arrive because Pier 11 serves several lines. This long incoming ride leaves less margin than a short downtown hop.
