Questions riders ask before this trip
St. George–Midtown West is the St. George route's Hudson-side headline trip, with Battery Park City between the endpoints. Current weekday and weekend rows span about 32 to 37 minutes. The boat is straightforward; Pier 79's far-west location is the piece that decides whether the trip works door to door.
How early should I arrive for St. George–Midtown West?
Be at the landing before departure with your ticket activated. Boarding is first-come. St. George is at 1 Bay Street; Midtown West is at Pier 79 on 12th Avenue. Confirm the St. George route and direction before joining the queue.

The current regular NYC Ferry fare is $4.50 one way, purchased in the app or at a machine. Battery Park City is part of the same ride. A return needs another fare, and MTA buses or subways use a separate payment system.

St. George lists paid parking. Do not expect a dedicated NYC Ferry lot at Pier 79; NYC Ferry says parking is very limited near most landings. Midtown riders should plan around the M42, M12, 7 train walk or the free Pier 79 shuttle rather than driving to 12th Avenue.

Yes while the boat's rack has room. NYC Ferry says vessels generally accommodate about eight to ten bicycles. St. George has bike racks, and Midtown West lists Citi Bike docks around West 40th, West 41st and Hudson Boulevard.

It is one regular through boat with Battery Park City in the middle, usually about 32 to 37 minutes. In NYC Ferry's September 28 through October 2, 2026 Sukkot PDF, the one continuous six-stop table toward Midtown kept that one-seat ride and scheduled 32 minutes from St. George. The Wall Street-bound side printed separate blocks, so the PDF did not promise the same through trip from Midtown in the opposite direction during that dated exception.

Far enough to plan. NYC Ferry lists the 7 train at 11th Avenue and Hudson Boulevard East, inland from the pier at 12th Avenue. The M42 and M12 are closer surface options. Count the westward walk instead of treating this as a Times Square landing.

Yes. NYC Ferry's route page links the Midtown shuttle and says buses run about every 10 minutes at peak times and about every 20 minutes off-peak and on weekends. Check the current shuttle route and allow connection time rather than timing it to the minute.

No. This is paid NYC Ferry service to Pier 79 via Battery Park City. The free orange ferry runs from St. George to Whitehall. Midtown-bound riders should compare the direct west-side boat with a free ferry plus a separate trip uptown.
