Questions riders ask before this trip

Midtown West–Bay Ridge is a broad Hudson-and-harbor ride via Battery Park City and St. George. Current weekday and weekend trips span about 44 to 48 minutes. It can beat an awkward set of waterfront transfers, but both Pier 79 and Shore Road sit beyond their neighborhoods' main subway corridors.

How early should I arrive for Midtown West–Bay Ridge?

Be at the landing before departure with your ticket ready. Boarding is first-come. Midtown West is Pier 79 on 12th Avenue; Bay Ridge is American Veterans Memorial Pier on Shore Road. Confirm the St. George route and direction.

How much is the ferry from Pier 79 to Bay Ridge?

The current regular NYC Ferry fare is $4.50 one way, bought in the app or at a machine. Battery Park City and St. George are intermediate calls on the same ticket. A return trip needs another fare.

Can I park at Midtown West or Bay Ridge?

Do not count on ferry parking at either endpoint. NYC Ferry says it is very limited near most landings. Pier 79 has the M42, M12, a 7 train walk and a free shuttle; Bay Ridge has the B9 and B64 closer than the inland R train.

Can I bring a bicycle from Midtown West to Bay Ridge?

Yes while rack space lasts. NYC Ferry boats generally carry about eight to ten bicycles. A bike helps at both far-west Pier 79 and Shore Road, but the small rack is first-come and can fill.

Is Midtown West–Bay Ridge direct?

It is one boat on the regular through pattern, with Battery Park City and St. George in between, and takes about 44 to 48 minutes. In NYC Ferry's September 28 through October 2, 2026 Sukkot PDF, the one continuous six-stop table toward Midtown kept Bay Ridge through to Midtown on one boat, taking 44 minutes. The Wall Street-bound side printed separate blocks, so it did not promise the reverse one-seat trip during that dated exception.

How do I reach Pier 79 from Midtown?

NYC Ferry lists the M42 at West 42nd and 12th, the M12 near West 38th and 11th, and the 7 train inland. Its free shuttle is another option. Budget the westward connection rather than assuming the pier is beside Times Square.

How do I leave the Bay Ridge pier?

The B9 and B64 serve the Shore Road area. The R train is inland at Bay Ridge Avenue and Fourth Avenue. Walking, bus timing and weather can change the usefulness of an otherwise direct ferry.

Does the boat stop at Wall Street first?

No. Between Midtown West and Bay Ridge, the current order is Battery Park City, St. George, then Bay Ridge. Wall Street comes later in the opposite side of the route. Read the endpoint and direction rather than assuming every Manhattan stop comes first.
