Questions riders ask before this trip

Midtown West–Wall Street is the full St. George-line circuit: Battery Park City, St. George, Bay Ridge and Atlantic Avenue before Pier 11. Current trips take about 68 to 69 minutes. It is a memorable harbor ride and a poor choice for anyone who simply needs the fastest Manhattan trip downtown.

How early should I arrive for Midtown West–Wall Street?

Reach Pier 79 before departure with your ticket ready. Boarding is first-come. At Wall Street, use the signed St. George-route queue at Pier 11. Both terminals host multiple ferry services, so confirm the full route name and direction.

How much is the full Pier 79–Pier 11 ride?

The current regular NYC Ferry fare is $4.50 one way. All four intermediate calls remain one ride. A return needs another fare; bus and subway connections use separate MTA payment.

Can I park at Pier 79 or Pier 11?

Do not plan around ferry parking. NYC Ferry says it is very limited near most landings. Midtown West has buses, a 7 train walk and the free shuttle; Pier 11 is served by downtown transit after a waterfront walk.

Can I take a bicycle from Midtown West to Wall Street?

Yes if the rack has space. NYC Ferry vessels generally accommodate about eight to ten bicycles. Citi Bike docks exist near both landings, and cycling down the Hudson can be a useful alternative when schedule control matters more than staying on the boat.

Is Midtown West–Wall Street direct?

It is one boat on the regular through pattern but a four-stop circuit, not a Manhattan express, taking about 68 to 69 minutes. In NYC Ferry's September 28 through October 2, 2026 Sukkot PDF, the one continuous six-stop table toward Midtown kept the full Wall Street–Midtown ride on one boat and scheduled 69 minutes. The Wall Street-bound side printed separate blocks, so it did not promise the reverse one-seat trip during that dated exception.

Is the ferry faster than the subway downtown?

Usually not for a Manhattan-only trip. This route leaves Manhattan, crosses to Staten Island and Brooklyn, then returns at Pier 11. Compare the published arrival with the 1, 2/3 or other land transit rather than judging from the two Manhattan endpoint names.

Is this a good sightseeing ride?

It covers a remarkable sweep of the Hudson and harbor for one fare, but it remains commuter transit. Allow the full 68-to-69-minute schedule, dress for the deck and keep doorways and queues clear. Check alerts before building a day around one sailing.

Can I leave at Battery Park City instead?

Yes; Battery Park City is the first stop from Midtown West and may be the sensible downtown endpoint. Stay aboard only if you actually want the full harbor circuit to Pier 11. The current timetable shows the Vesey Street segment is far shorter.
