Questions riders ask before this trip
Angel Island is an excellent ferry day, provided you plan the boat home before wandering off. Arrive with the right fare, note the last return from Ayala Cove, and give that sailing a real buffer. The island deserves your attention, not a nervous clock check.
How early should I arrive for the Angel Island ferry?
Be at the dock about 15 minutes early. Before exploring, check the last return and decide when you'll be back at Ayala Cove. Give that final boat extra room because missing it is not a minor delay.

Pay with Clipper, an accepted contactless bank card, or a paper ticket. The fare includes state park entry. Each person needs a separate payment method or ticket, so sort out the group before the boarding line starts moving.

No parking is attached to the Ferry Building terminal. Private paid lots and garages are nearby, but traffic and event rates can make them painful. Transit, walking, or biking is usually the easier start to an island day.

Yes. Standard bikes and e-bikes ride Golden Gate Ferry first come, first served, and the state park doesn't add a bike fee. Boat space still runs out, so show up early on a sunny weekend.

Yes. Your Golden Gate Ferry fare includes the state park entrance fee. It doesn't reserve a particular return boat, though. Choose the sailing home before you leave Ayala Cove behind.

No. Angel Island doesn't allow dogs except service animals. Make that call before leaving for the terminal because there isn't a pet-friendly workaround at the dock.
